Report: Russian crt orders blocking of popular e-library Librusec
MOSCOW, Aug 15 (PRIME) -- Russian popular online library Librusec, lib.rus.ec, will be eternally blocked on September 8 following a decision of the Moscow city court upon an application of publishing house AST for an illegal distribution of books, the Izvestiya daily reported Monday on its Web site.
AST was presented at court by the association of the protection of authors’ rights in the Internet.
A court spokesperson said the decision will come into force in 30 days unless it is appealed. The court will send the decision to the communication service, which will add the popular resource to the single register of blocked Web sites, and it will no longer be available for Russians.
According to Similarweb, lib.rus.eс’s monthly audience counts 9.4 million people. The resource was opened in 2007 for free downloading of books, but after a big hacker attack, the Web site revised it policy and limited free access even for registered users.
